A date has now been confirmed for Amazon to begin distributing packages from its logistics centre in El Prat de Llobregat. The company has announced that operations will commence on October 4th at the new facility currently under construction in this Catalan municipality.
As we announced several months ago, Inkema is playing a key role in the development of this major project, whose construction began in July of last year. The new infrastructure for the e-commerce giant, representing an investment of more than €200 million, will cover an area of over 63,000 square metres, making it the largest logistics centre in Southern Europe.
A few weeks ago, the first loading ramps began to be installed at the facility, coinciding with a visit from the President of the Government of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and Amazon Spain’s Director of Operations, Fred Pattje.
The future Amazon logistics centre will soon feature several of Inkema’s best-selling products. Inkema will supply Amazon with more than 55 loading ramps, 63 sectional industrial doors, and 63 retractable dock shelters.
Specifically, the installation will include 54 loading ramps with hinged lip (RH1), 2 loading ramps with a 500 mm retractable lip (RH2), and 2 loading ramps with a 1,000 mm retractable lip (RH3).
