Inkema dock levellers are designed to ensure safe and stable operation between the truck and the loading bay at all times.

As many logistics facilities have different installation requirements, we offer a combination of embedded type, self-supporting type and box type dock levellers with either hinged or telescopic lips. All models comply with EN 1398 and are engineered for intensive traffic, mixed vehicle fleets and demanding energy-efficiency requirements.

Our dock levellers can be integrated with dock shelters, vehicle restraint systems and insulated tunnels, creating a complete loading bay solution that reduces thermal losses and enhances operational safety. With more than three decades of experience manufacturing loading bay equipment, Inkema prioritises reliability and durability to ensure every loading operation is efficient, predictable and secure.

The embedded-type dock leveller requires a pit with a steel frame and is the standard solution for loading bays. It facilitates future replacement of the dock leveller without affecting the civil works.

The self-supporting dock leveller is installed in a pit without a steel frame, simplifying the preparation work. It is commonly used in refurbishment projects and facility extensions.

The BOX-type dock leveller eliminates the need for a traditional pit, making it ideal for new-build projects. The pouring tray version includes an integrated recess beneath the dock leveller for vehicles equipped with tail lifts.

Dock levellers with a swing lip are commonly used in standard logistics operations and provide a robust and reliable solution for intensive use.

Telescopic lip dock levellers allow more precise positioning on the vehicle and are typically used in facilities where thermal control, airtightness or a wide variety of vehicles are particularly important, especially in refrigerated logistics or insulated installations.

Hydraulic dock levellers provide faster, safer and more comfortable operation in facilities with frequent traffic. They automate the levelling process and reduce operator effort, making them particularly suitable for logistics platforms and distribution centres.

The required capacity depends on the type of goods being handled and the equipment used during loading and unloading operations.

In practice, most logistics platforms use dock levellers rated at 6 tonnes dynamic capacity as a starting point, although certain industrial applications may require higher capacities.

Dynamic load capacity takes into account not only the weight of the goods, but also the forces generated during operation, such as braking, inertia and forklift impacts. For this reason, the EN 1398 standard requires these factors to be considered during the design and testing of dock levellers.

Depending on the criteria used, different manufacturers may state different capacities for the same application. At Inkema, we communicate the actual working load capacity of our dock levellers, considering real operating conditions.

Within the European Union, dock levellers must comply with the EN 1398 standard, which regulates safety, stability and operational requirements for loading equipment.

The standard covers load capacity, structural stability, safety devices and testing requirements applicable to this type of installation.

Mini docks are designed for facilities with limited space, urban logistics operations or small loading points such as supermarkets, retail stores and urban distribution centres. They allow safe and efficient loading and unloading operations without the need for a full conventional loading dock.

In certain applications, they can also help reduce noise levels and improve operations in environments with acoustic restrictions or limited space.

Loading dock safety depends on the integration of different systems: dock levellers, bumpers, signalling equipment and vehicle restraint systems. The most critical element is the vehicle restraint system, which prevents accidental truck movement during loading and unloading operations.

The remaining components complement and reinforce this central function. A properly designed solution reduces operational risks and improves overall dock stability.

Dock levellers are designed for intensive use but require periodic inspections to ensure safety and durability. Preventive maintenance helps identify wear in hydraulic components, safety systems and structural elements before they affect dock operations.

Proper maintenance also helps extend the service life of the installation and reduce unexpected downtime.

Yes. Dock levellers are designed to compensate for height differences between the dock and different types of industrial vehicles. Depending on the operation, different working ranges, lip lengths or specific configurations can be used to improve vehicle alignment during loading and unloading activities.
