What is the difference between the RH16D and the RH36D?
The RH16D incorporates a dock leveller with a hinged lip and is designed for standard loading operations where a fast, compact and cost-effective solution without civil works is required.
The RH36D features a 1,000 mm hydraulic telescopic lip, designed for installations with higher reach and safety requirements.
The latter has been specifically designed to easily accommodate safety extensions in accordance with CARSAT recommendations, helping to reduce entrapment risks between the truck and the loading dock.
What is the difference between a dock leveller with an integrated dock house and a BATU structure?
Dock levellers with an integrated dock house combine the leveller and supporting structure into a single factory-prepared unit, providing faster installation and generally lower costs.
BATU structures offer a much higher level of customisation in terms of dimensions, walkways and other configuration options. For this reason, they are typically used in more complex projects or installations with specific requirements.
When should an insulated loading tunnel be installed?
An insulated loading tunnel is recommended whenever maintaining a stable indoor temperature during loading and unloading operations is important. By moving the docking point outside the building, it reduces the ingress of warm air, moisture and contaminants.
It is a very common solution in the food, pharmaceutical and refrigerated logistics sectors.
What are the CARSAT recommendations?
The CARSAT recommendations are French occupational safety guidelines applied to loading docks. Based on the recommendations of the INRS (Institut National de Recherche et de Sécurité), they establish measures to reduce the risk of entrapment between the truck and the loading dock during docking operations.
What is the difference between a dock house and an insulated loading tunnel?
The dock house is the steel structure that supports the loading dock and dock leveller. The insulated loading tunnel is an external enclosure that connects the building to the vehicle and helps maintain thermal insulation during loading operations.
Both systems can work together as part of the same external loading dock solution.
Which standards must dock houses and loading tunnels comply with?
Dock houses and loading tunnels equipped with integrated dock levellers must comply with the European standard EN 1398, which regulates safety, stability and load-capacity requirements for loading dock equipment.
In refrigerated installations or international projects, additional requirements relating to thermal insulation or occupational safety may also apply, such as the CARSAT recommendations.
